Risk analysis studies have been proving valuable for the assessment of industrial sites, allowing for the review and management of risks before the occurrence of actual accidents.

In order to conduct risk analyses at industrial sites, ARQUIPÉLAGO counts with the following tools:

  • PHA (preliminary hazard analysis)
  • HazOp (hazards and operability analysis)
  • FMEAs (failure mode and effects analysis)
  • Fault tree
  • Event tree
  • Software applications for the simulation of leakages and the analysis of the consequences: DEGADIS, HEGADAS, PHAST, SAFETY
  • Preparation of FN curves and iso-risk contours to manage hazardous situations, through the application of internationally accepted criteria

Since CONAMA's (the National Environment Commission) issuance of Resolution No. 1 on 01/23/86 - which made Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and the ensuing Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) mandatory for the permitting of environment-modifying activities - risk analysis studies began to be incorporated to some types of projects. In this sense, in addition to chronic pollution-related aspects, the prevention of larger accidents is also considered in the environmental permitting process, through risk analysis studies.

With a multidisciplinary team, ARQUIPÉLAGO is fully equipped to develop Risk Management Programs and Emergency Plans - essential tools for the control and prevention of injuries and damages and for the management of industrial hazards.
